It has been said that painting ability is not measured by the paints or the brush, but in the ability to see how things come together. Artist, Stan Moeller, has the vision that allows him to capture the mood of his subjects. One collector commented, "Stan paints the things we cannot see."
The primary inspiration for Stan Moeller's art is his affection for the natural world. As a Modern Impressionist, Stan paints his personal interpretation of reality; giving us a glimpse of the essence of what he sees. He responds to the “atmosphere” of a scene or subject and is captivated by its particular light, texture, movement and mood.
As a child growing up in rural Indiana, Stan always preferred a blank sheet of paper to a coloring book. He studied painting and life drawing at Western Michigan University. Further studies have included painting on location with his friend and mentor, Don Stone. Mr. Moeller has found that painting often with other talented ”plein air” artists, is an invaluable experience and a continual source for learning.
As an award winning artist, Stan Moeller excels in his ability to paint diverse subject matter i.e. landscapes, cityscapes, interiors and figurative works. Mr. Moeller’s paintings are represented in corporate collections throughout the country and fine art galleries along the eastern seaboard. Included among his awards are: “The Marine Environment Wildlife Award” in the 25th Annual International Marine Art, Mystic, CT Exhibition (2004), a month-long residency by Les Amis De La Grande Vigne, in Dinan, France (2003), and “The Gull Rock” (Mohegan) Award by International Artist Magazine (#25, June/July 2002). |
