Biography | |
20 years ago in the stormy life of artistic Moscow appeared new phenomenon - painter Lev Diakonitsin, early known as historian, philosopher and art critic, whose conception of Russian "Silver Age" opposed both "left" and "right". He published monography and a lot of articles. Lecturing a course of philosophy he even in stagnation years dared to critisize ironically a "scientific" ideology.
Lev Diakonitsin began to draw in his early childhood and in 1976 turned to paintry, that became his true vocation.
After hard training of the painting of nature he found his own way in traditions of postimpressionism and maximal expression. Psychology of forms and colours - that is the main stream in his paintry, that is the explication of his acute foreshortenings, intensive colours, enlarged draw, improvised manner of paintry.
Psychology is evident in the serie of "charactered" portraits of his friends, but psychological effects, such as colouristic density, gloomy or joyful mood of canvases, light or heavy rhytmes, are even more charming in the tissue of a form itself. The parallels of transient and eternal are mostly organic in his still-lifes. In his creative activity painter follows the traditions of russian icons, French and moscow school of paintry. And everywhere in his works - in portraits, still-lifes, landscapes - burn the colours of life.
In April 2004 Lev Diakonitsin kindly agreed to become a member of our Gallery. |
