His impressive art talents have been recognized by those who have used art as a way to make a lasting statement, such as the Vermont First Bank, in the State of Vermont. Mr. Mitchell was commissioned to do a series of 44 paintings depicting the Firsts done in Vermont for the two hundredth anniversary celebration. These remarkable representations of the works of extraordinary inventions and numerous achievements of Vermonters over time, were eventually displayed (the first of its kind) in the Russell Senate Office Building Rotunda in Washington, D. C. in 1977.
Many collectors have found their way to the doors of the Mitchell Gallery in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks in Keene, New York where the Mitchells have lived and worked since 1972.
